Peanut Chaat

Welcome to the world of Chaat – Indian street food at its best! Apparently there are over 500 varieties of chaat – who knew? It’s sweet, savory, spicy, tangy, and guarantees a party in your mouth! From time to time, I will include other more complicated recipes but this is a simple and easy recipe that comes together in 5 minutes! Peanut chaat is a super quick way to get initiated into chaat. Bonus: you will not need any special ingredients either!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup of Salsa Fresca (Check out the recipe that I used in my Chicken Tacos)
  • 1 tsp of cumin powder (preferably freshly ground)
  • 1/2 cup of Planters Redskin Spanish Peanuts (unsalted, dry roasted peanuts are better but I cheated!)
  • 1/2 tsp of Chaat masala (optional – Use if you have it and if you don’t care about the sodium)

Method

  • Mix together the salsa fresca, the peanuts, the cumin powder. Thats it!

Peanut Chaat is an awesome snack at happy hour with an ice cold drink of your choice. Note: If you are using unsalted peanuts, you may need a pinch of salt to pull all the flavors together. Since I used the salted peanuts, I skipped adding salt. Yum!
